At Chicago Award Source, the overwhelming majority of what we make is personalized — engraved, etched, or customized to your specifications. Because a custom award cannot be resold once it carries someone's name, the policy below reflects how a made-to-order engraving shop necessarily works. Please read it before you order.
Any item that has been engraved, etched, printed, or otherwise customized is non-returnable and non-refundable once production has begun. This includes the vast majority of our awards, plaques, crystal, glass, and acrylic pieces.
For custom orders we provide a digital proof (mockup) showing your exact text, layout, and spelling before anything is engraved. Nothing goes into production until you approve that proof. Once a proof is approved, you are confirming that names, dates, spelling, and layout are correct. Errors that appear on an approved proof are not eligible for a refund or free remake, though we will always work with you on a discounted correction.
If a finished piece differs from your approved proof, arrives defective, or is damaged in transit, we will remake or refund it at no cost to you. Please contact us within 7 days of receipt (or pickup) with your order number and clear photos of the issue. We may ask you to return the damaged piece so we can file a carrier claim.
Unengraved stock merchandise in original, unused condition may be returned within 14 days of receipt for a refund of the item price. Return shipping is the customer's responsibility, and a restocking fee may apply to large or special-order quantities.
You may cancel or change an order at any time before you approve your proof at no charge. Once a proof is approved and the piece enters production, the order can no longer be cancelled.
